Dr Vicki Avery is an experienced Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with a passion for providing expert, patient-centred care. She specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of digestive and liver conditions, offering individualised treatment plans that focus on both medical and lifestyle factors to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr Avery completed her medical degree at Auckland University, New Zealand, before undertaking specialist training in gastroenterology and hepatology at Auckland Hospital and North Shore Hospital. She further refined her expertise through a fellowship year in hepatology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She has worked in major hospitals across Australia and New Zealand, including Middlemore Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and Redcliffe Hospital, gaining extensive experience in multidisciplinary and complex case management.

She provides comprehensive care for all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver disease, with a special interest in:

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy for cancer screening and polyp removal
  • Liver disease management, including hepatitis B, cirrhosis, and metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)
  • Nutritional and lifestyle approaches to digestive and liver health
  • Collaborative care, working closely with GPs, dietitians, and allied health professionals

Dr Avery is actively involved in research related to liver disease and transplantation and remains at the forefront of advancements in the field. She believes in a holistic, patient-focused approach, ensuring that each patient receives personalised care that considers both their medical condition and overall well-being.
